Good afternoon everyone! I hope you’re all having a terrific Tuesday so far and remaining in high spirits after the whole ‘back to work’ thing this week. We are certainly in high spirits and hope to share a little joy with you to get you through the week!  We absolutely adore a simple, outdoor, bohemian collaboration, just like this beautiful styled shoot directed by the super-talented Starry Eyed Weddings. Set at Stonehill Farm East Sussex, Stonehill is a family owned P.Y.O farm with stunning views across the South Downs. To help the running of the farm, the family want to expose the beauty of it and it’s incredible views, pitching it as a truly unique wedding venue. The shoot is gloriously organic and pulls out all the stops when it comes to the perfect mix of vintage, boho and festival, using an arrangement of vintage-inspired props, a scrummy orchard and a stunning bohemian wedding gown. The other very appealing aspect of holding a wedding reception on the farm, is the availability of the most sumptuous fresh fruits including gooseberries, strawberries, boysenberries and of course the delicious home grown apples. We see this as an all-year-round picture perfect venue, although we have to admit, a summer wedding here would be divine!

We absolutely love the rustic tea party aspect of this collaboration, and with bell tents and colourful festival signage, the shoot lies well within the festival-inspo arena. It’s wild, bold and fun with a warm, soft and organic edge.

Hope you enjoy it!

a wild, bohemian wedding

On a perfect English summer day we were setting the scene for a beautiful outdoors wedding on a farm in East Sussex. Stonehill Farm, set in 25 acres of land and 6 acres of woodland is now available to hire for weddings and events.  This new and authentic rural venue has been a working farm for 42 years.  A picture perfect location with incredible views of the South Downs and just half an hour from Tunbridge Wells and Brighton.

The farm is owned and run by the McKay Family. Most recently, Oliver and Hannah McKay have relocated from Essex (son and daughter-in-law of David and Celia – the owners), to run the farm shop and nurture the outdoors wedding venture. Oliver and Hannah along with their little twin daughters Ophelia and Penelope, are working tirelessly to ensure the smooth running and success of the farm shop and the weddings and events.

The farm specialises in fruit and every berry imaginable, plus plums, rhubarb and of course, the beautiful orchard boasting juicy queen coxs apples. With plenty of space to plan your very own event, we wanted to showcase the scenery- which is the real star! With an outside top table and adorable bell tent, the sense of being outdoors with a superb view for the whole day is very appealing.

More from Starry Eyed Weddings….

The top table was enhanced by the special touches of Betty Loves Vintage, given the rustic treatment with the use of old tin baths and barrels by The Green House Heathfield and adorned with bundles of bright flowers from Cuckoo Flowers Co.  The decadent grazing platters and naked cake was lovingly prepared by A Thyme for All Occasions.

Oliver and Hannah are keen to build their relationship with local suppliers and exploring the exciting produce that is grown nearby. A special detail on the day included our collaboration with Trenchmore Farms – Silly Moo Cider, we poured this into our freshly hollowed out apple cups, picked straight from the orchard!

Our bride, Alex, wore the delicate and pretty Iris dress from Vintage Trousseau. Make up and hair were in keeping with our natural setting – enhancing Alex’s already glowing skin and loose waves, Katie Hay created an understated but elegant bridal look. Our groom, Victor looked relaxed in navy formal trousers and a crisp classic white shirt (models own). Flower girls, Phoebe and Madeline, added some mischief to our bridal party, wearing blush dresses from Next and their own wellies!

Our newly weds took time out to explore the bell tent which was styled and supplied by Brighton Bell Tents.  This of course would make the perfect retreat for the happy couple at the end of a fun packed day. Stonehill also offer glamping options for wedding guests which can be organised and booked directly with the farm.

We had our special cocktails- blackberry and sage bourbon smash, Braeburn Appletini and raspberry fizz- sure to get the party started! The wild and bohemian concept and focus was directed by Starry Eyed Weddings, who worked closely with the vision of Oliver and Hannah to capture this glorious day, with stunning photography by Cripps Photography.
