Morning my gorgeous gals!
This morning we’re talking ‘Brides off Duty’… That’s right, I’m giving you permission to NOT think about bridal style/wedding decor for this week’s trend post, and instead we’re gonna talk about the chic yet cosy trends for Autumn 2014 that are gonna keep you busy brides comfy, cosy and looking F-L-Y while you buzz from supplier meetings, to dinner with the in-laws-to-be to your next outdoor venue viewing.
Yup, we’ve done the hard work for you, so whether you throw on a long camel coat and some sneaks, or just get yourself a fringe cut in, you’ll look rad and ready for anything!
1. Camel + Sneaks
Camel, camel camel. Oh HOW we adore you! If you’re looking to buy yourself a new wool coat this winter, you go to colour (and really, the only colour you should be considering!) is Camel. Pair with air-dried, distinctly ‘undone’ hair and a pair of super comfy sneaks and you’ll be zipping round your outdoor venues in serious comfort and style.
2. Hat Hair (In a Good Way!)
You were out for dinner last night with your beau, discussing whether you should have recycled brown or matte black envelopes for your invites, stayed out a little too late and woke up 30 minutes late (you just couldn’t help but hit that ‘snooze’ button once more!) and now you’re supremely late for your meeting with your caterer… And oh hell, one look in the mirror and what are gonna do with that hair?! Two words for you: Fedora Hat.
Our absolutely fave this autumn over at Festival Brides, they cover a multitude of sins and look RADICULOUS every time!
3. Boots Made For Walking
Girls, I feel compelled to correct this common misconception: you don’t need to wear heels to look sophisticated and chic. In fact, the entire opposite is often true! This season it’s ALL about a little ankle boot, whether that’s a uniquely pointed twist on the Chelsea boot, or a soft supple moccasin, these little beauties are perfect for exploring that woodland or meadow you plan to wed in, or for traipsing from one florist to the next getting quotes and, bonus, they look ace paired with almost anything!
4. Fur, Baby
Faux fur, of course! Dyed emerald green, or in a more natural brown, we’re channelling Sienna and pairing ours with a set of ripped skinnies, messy hair and, of course, a pair of quirky sunnies!
5. Light as a Duster
A fabulous transition piece, the duster coat is perfect for those randomly mild, sunny autumn days. When a full on coat is a little too much, throw on you floor length, buttonless, lightweight duster and you’re good to go! We’re LOVING our dusters in muted nude tones and pair with a pair of high-waisted momma jeans! Effortless cool? Hell yeah.
6. Plaid, Always
‘Still, really?’, I hear you say. DAMN STRAIGHT, GIRL. We’ll always love plaid here at Festival Brides, and this season it remains oversized and, if you’re still rocking that summer tan, why not kick off October with a little flannel dress? I mean, she’s nailed that chilled out sassy look, right?
7. Knits Go Maxi
This autumn, the fashion gods are definitely in our favour, making the ‘just-got-outta-bed’ look right on trend. So grab yourself a maxi length knit, whether it’s a fine merino wool, or a chunky bouclé style, and stay cosy from head to toe all day long. They work with boots, with heels, with a hat, no hat… Seriously, it’s the easiest trend – we love it!
8. Black on Black on Black
This remains our go to colour scheme for those days when colour just won’t do! Letting your gorgeous skin and richly coloured, perfectly tousled hair do all the talking. You simply can’t go wrong, and it’s the perfect look to take you seamlessly from day to night.
9. Blanket Style
The second ‘just-got-outta-bed’ style we’ve seen on the cat walks for autumn 2014; the blanket coat. An amazing piece for those iffy autumnal days, you know the kind, you wake up and it’s borderline frosty, but you’re boiling by lunch time… Well, it’s no bother when you can nonchalantly throw your blanket coat on (or off). Super laid back, while remaining super chic… The fashion gods really are in our favour!
Ok, so I may be being a little self indulgent with this one, but I am SO tempted to get myself a little fringe sitch happenin’ over here! The ultimate autumnal statement, the full fringe, left unstraightened and longer at the outer edges to give it that soft ‘I woke up like this’ feel, is the only accessory you need to be getting this season!
Chic, understated off duty style? Yeah, smashed it.
Happy shopping gorgeous brides to be!
Peace + Love
