Well, I don’t know about you this morning lovelies but I’m already super hot! Which kinda works with today’s Festival Brides Love feature because we’re super happy to welcome Pop It Like It’s Hot to Festival Brides. You’ll find this beyond cute popcorn truck in our festival wedding directory but today, we’re handing the blog over to Shona Duggan, the popcorn lovin’ lady who travels around in her bright orange Piaggio truck serving up gorgeous popcorn at weddings and events. So, here’s Shona…
Tell us a little about yourself…
My name is Shona, I’m 23 and from Cumbria. My mum is a bit of a free spirit with a new idea every month so I think I’ve inherited some of that.
If you had a chance to go to any music festival, which one would it be?
I was brought up going to small folk festivals so if I had the chance I would go to any of the bigger ones. The UK has so many to choose from now I doubt I could pick just one.
What made you decide to start Pop It Like It’s Hot?
Well I’m young and I wanted a business like no other. I didn’t want to have coffee or prosecco like the other tuk tuks, I wanted to be unique.
Why do you think popcorn has just become everyone’s favourite snack recently?
I guess because you can have sweet or savoury and if cooked like mine in just coconut oil it’s nice and light too.
We need to hear more about your amazing popcorn – what are the options for weddings?
For weddings I can set up inside or out and I serve popcorn for 4 hours so people can just keep coming back over for more. I make it fresh while I’m there and add the seasoning to it in the bag it’s served in like salt and shake style.
And your orange Piaggio van! Tell us more…
Well I mean you have to stand out so why not orange! It’s such a warm fun colour and people always smile when they see it.
What are some of your favourite memories + experiences from previous weddings/couples you’ve worked with?
The children! They love seeing the popcorn pop and the smell when its being made. The also love the tuk tuk and they love eating my popcorn too.
If our readers were to book you for their wedding, what can they expect?
A fun interactive popcorn experience. I also take a table with random flavours like salt with chilli so guests can add their own flavours to their bag of plain popcorn, a sort of flavour experiment.
And you also offer a few extras don’t you? We LOVE the sound of the kissing booth!
Yes I’ve so many ideas of which I’m a little behind on but the aim is to have a kissing booth and outdoor games for everyone to get involved in/with. The more interaction at party the better.
What’s your best piece of advice for couples who’re trying to choose foodie treats for their wedding?
Choose something varied with options as choosing one thing for all can be hard. Dietary requirements are on the increase and the good thing with popcorn in coconut oil is its Gluten free and vegan friendly.
Finally, what’s your life quote/motto?
Wow I’ve so many I like to try and live by but the one that means the most is Have no regrets. Simple really but I don’t want to reach later life and think what if? I would rather try and fail then not try at all.
