Note to all you lovely brides, if you are one of those ladies that loves a bit of body glitter, fancy dress or face paint and always has some sparkle around your eyes at festivals then you are going to LOVE today’s Festival Brides Love featured supplier.
Painted Peach, the creative brainchild of professional face and body painter Amanda, is offering the most beautiful bridal body art which I have completely fallen in love with. I am predicting here right now that in a couple of years, bridal body art will be trending at weddings across the UK and you can understand why. Imagine having a gorgeous bespoke design, painted especially for you on your back or arms with jewels added for a subtle sparkle. You can almost hear the gasps of your guests already as you walk down the aisle. A design like this would look so stunning with a backless or off the shoulder bohemian wedding dress and would certainly add a unique and very beautiful element to a festival or bohemian wedding. I would have LOVED a personal design painted on my back, especially as the top half of my back was exposed with my dress – time to renew my vows me thinks!
But Amanda’s talents do not stop there. She also offers body painted festival style performers and a glitter and face painting station all available to hire for your wedding. She has 6 years of experience at body art painting and has worked at over 70 festivals so she knows her stuff when it comes to festival trends and can certainly provide you with some fantastic entertainment ideas for your guests. A glitter and face painting station at my wedding would have been awesome and something I would definitely be booking if I was getting married now. They just complement a festival wedding perfectly and are so much fun for guests.

Over to Amanda….
Tell us a little bit about yourself?
Hey everyone! Well… I’m Amanda. I’m a Bristol based professional body painter and started my company, Painted Peach, back in 2016 after moving back from New Zealand.
I first started painting people in 2012 when my Dad passed in Myton Hospice and they were looking for a face painter to help fundraise for their events. I’d always been artistic but had no experience and the thought of trying something new for such a cause seemed like a welcome opportunity.
I have always been captivated by escapism and fantasy so getting lost in the magic of other worlds was a great coping mechanism for me through such a difficult time. As a result, I aim to inspire even a fraction of the awe other artists and authors have created in me and I endeavour to bring this to life in my creations.
For now, I am the only painter although I do call upon other artists or assistant if the brief requires it. I love to work with Beelzebub’s Toybox who makes incredible costumes and props and We Creatures who makes fantastic headdresses. Together we create the ultimate characters and designs for my body art.
I’m grateful that the talents and techniques I have managed to teach myself have helped me achieve so much; from working for a 3 time world champion body artist to painting for a Warner Bros music video. In almost 6 years since starting my journey, I have had the fortune of collaborating and working alongside some incredible artists and other creatives that have helped me to become the artist I am today.
It’s so exciting that I am finally able to branch out into weddings and offer something so new to couples wanting to explore festival, fantasy or themed weddings!
If you had the chance to go to any music festival, which one would it be?
Having worked in over 70 festivals, I have seen and experienced some of the most incredible decor, performers, stages, acts etc. There are still so many festivals I would still love to experience. Burning Man festival in the U.S and the World of Body Art festival in Vienna are most certainly at the top of my hit list. As for my favourite festival I have been to so far, it would have to be Boomtown. Purely for the sheer level of detail and effort that the crew and performers go to take you into the crazy world of pyro technics, dystopian towns and immersive storylines that take months to create. It’s escapism at it’s finest and it is mind blowing.
What made you decide to start Painted Peach?
After spending on and off 8 years in the hospitality industry, I always knew I wanted a more creative career. When I discovered body painting, it was a complete light bulb moment and for the first time ever I knew what I wanted. It was such a relief to finally have some clarity after a lifetime of career uncertainty.
Working as a professional face and body painter for BodyFX in New Zealand opened my eyes to the possibilities that we are capable of and realising the unlimited potential of my new career was very exciting. I knew very shortly after working with my boss over there, Yolanda Bartrum, that it was going to be difficult to work for someone else. Yolanda has won countless awards including 3 World Champions in Body Art. Her level of talent is an absolute beauty to be in the presence of.
I began with just face painting for kids parties which is still my main bread and butter for now, but I hope to be able to pass my skills on by running workshops and move more into just body art. Since arriving in Bristol, I have swiftly developed the contacts I hoped for and through meeting the right people and orchestrating collaborations, I am in the position I am in today; providing body painted performers to events, painting for music videos, performances, advertising, campaigns etc. The beauty of being my own boss is that I get to decide where I look for work and what designs I create and I really appreciate having such creative freedom. I feel I am just at the beginning of something spectacular but with continuous hard work and positivity, it’s only a matter of time before I achieve all my goals.
Body painted performers are not something many people have heard of before for weddings. Can you explain what is available for couples to hire?
This is something that is very new (and VERY exciting). As far as I know, I haven’t seen many or any body painted performers at weddings yet. Festival weddings are becoming more popular and this is an incredible way to engage and awe your guests. I’ve painted models to add an artistic, unforgettable talking point at several high end events and thought it would only be right to offer the same for weddings. After all, this is the one day
you want people to remember forever, am I riiiight?
Within the short time I have lived in Bristol, I have been fortunate enough to befriend and acquaint myself with a wide variety of extremely talented circus and festival performers.
So far, I have met and can offer: fire performers, aerial artists, jugglers, magicians, stilt walkers, contortionists, harp players, immersive actors, DJ’s, dancers, fan dancers, acrobats and hoop artists.
You can discuss with me what skills you would like your performer to have and if I don’t know them yet, I can almost certainly find someone with the skill set you desire. If you have performers you already know or would like to book, then I’d be more than happy to liaise with and paint them instead.
You can have as much or as little input on the concept as you like but we can chat more comprehensively about designs as we go along. I will always make the performers some costume bits just to protect the bare essentials, mainly so social media doesn’t freak out when it sees a female nipple and also because it makes most people feel somewhat more comfortable. We can decide what mood, theme, colour or character your performers bring
to your wedding. It’s as bespoke as you wish.
The creatures and characters you can see on my website are the kind of thing I’m offering. If performance isn’t quite what you’re after, then you could consider having a mythical creature serving your canapés or guiding people to their seats to really mesmerise your friends and family.
Tell us a little bit more about your gorgeous bridal body art? Do you offer bespoke designs?
So, for the moment, my Bridal Body Art is completely unique to Painted Peach. I had the idea for this whilst I was working at high-end, outdoor events and weddings in NZ, at the same time as working for BodyFX, a SpecialFX and body painting company in Auckland. Sunny weather, sandy toes, backless dresses and delicate white body paint with iridescent gemstones seemed like a stunning combo.
Each of my designs are different from the last so they are also completely bespoke. I usually do symmetrical designs and paint them free hand on the day, but I’m also happy to predesign one for you before hand. You can have as much or as little input as you feel comfortable with. Designs take approximately 1-2 hours, so sit and relax while it’s being done. It’s perfectly ok for you to delegate and drink Prosecco on your wedding day. I can even paint your back/arms at the same time as the makeup artist is working her magic to save on time if that helps.
All my paints are top quality, non-toxic, hypo-allergenic, vegan body paints. What a mouthful! But basically, they’re great. I then spray the paint with a body paint fixing spray to ensure the design won’t rub or smudge from all the congrats pats you’ll be receiving throughout the day. It’s even waterproof up until a certain point so it will last until you wash it off. Light rain, yes. Swimming like a mermaid… maybe? I can test it out for you if
you really want to know!
Do you offer a trial for your bridal body art, similar to that of a make-up trial, so brides can sample your designs?
I am more than happy to offer trials for the body art if any of the brides would like that. I love to get to know people and this is a great way of making sure we’re on the same page for the big day. This is also a beneficial so I can get a colour match with the colour of your dress.
We can see that you offer a Face Art and Glitter Station as well for weddings and hen and stag dos. How does this work?
Face Art and Glitter at events is a great way to add instant sparkle and colour to your guests, it’s also a great way to enhance a theme at a stag or hen do. Now, I’m not talking about your average kids face painting, this is a tad more boutique where we paint beautiful eye designs or festival makeups to suit any age or gender. If people prefer to have a little bit of body paint on their arm, chest, back or leg instead of their face then this is more
than welcome and often more popular. We like to top off designs with a bit of glitter or gems to add to the festival vibe and keep the magpies happy!
All the paints are hypo allergenic (non-toxic, vegan, same as the ones for bridal body art) so anyone age 2+ can enjoy the fun. You can hire an appropriate amount of artists to cover the amount of guests you have. Usually we can do 10-20 faces an hour each depending on designs and usually stay for minimum of 2 hours. We turn up with plenty of time beforehand and with everything we need including all materials, tables and chairs so all you need to provide is a well lit space for us to work in. Minimal hassle for you so you don’t need to worry about a thing.
We have the option of holographic or biodegradable glitter, which is great for the more eco friendly couples and venues. People can choose on the night or if you have a preference, you can choose prior to the day.
If our couples were to book with you for their wedding, what sort of service can they expect?
For each service I offer, the booking process is slightly different and specific to your requirements. It’s always best to email me first with as many details as possible which will allow me to give you the most accurate quote. Things like service you’re interested in, venue, number of people etc are all really helpful and then we can go from there. I always strive to answer emails as quickly, personably and constructively as possible. If I’m not
available to answer in full at the time, I will send you a quick response telling you I’ll get back to you when I can give you my undivided attention.
I like to share Pinterest boards with couples hiring performers so we can share images and ideas throughout the duration of the designing process. If a face to face meet up is logistically possible after some ideas have been put in place then I always find this is great for building up excitement, iron out any miscommunications and make sure we’re on the same page.
After the initial email you can contact me in whichever method you prefer, whether it’s phone call, email, WhatsApp, Facebook, carrier pigeon, I don’t mind. And you can contact me as much or as little as you need to. As long as you’re happy, I’m happy!
On the actual day, I will arrive with everything we need so you won’t need to prep anything.
What’s your best piece of advice for couples when it comes to choosing the entertainment for their wedding, hen or stag do?
I think, if you’re looking to make a huge impression, really have your guests reeling and talking about your wedding for decades to come then a body painted performer or host is the one for you.
If you’re happy for the focus to be on you as a bride, if you have a sleeveless or backless dress or are looking for something to make you truly unique from other brides, then Bridal Body Art is just divine. No one else you know will have had or even heard of this yet.
If you think everyone should feel included and each bring their own element of sparkle to the wedding then having a glitter station for a couple of hours is so much fun. People of all ages will get involved, especially the ones you wouldn’t expect! You’ll be surprised how much animation it will bring to the party when everyone has a little colour and glitter.
You can ask as many questions as you like if you are unsure of anything so please don’t hesitate to do so. Once you have decided, we can then work on bringing the elements you most desire to your big day!
Finally, what’s your life quote/motto at Painted Peach?
I have a fair amount of quotes that I love or live by but the one that really kick started and maintained my passion is….
“It’s not about finding yourself, it’s about creating yourself”
