Hey everyone. Hope you’re having a wonderful afternoon! And apologies in advance if we distract you for just a minute or ten, as we are delighted to share this week’s elegant ethereal inspiration with you, brought to us by vintage prop and wedding hire guru’s Brown Birds. Emily and Laura have a gorgeous collection of old and new items, which they’ve used beautifully in this hazy boho woodland shoot. Pay particular attention to the foliage and bloom adorned hoops, casually suspended from the wooded branches – so pretty. Oh and the vintage gin bar. Need we say more? The mix of detail and style in this shoot is beyond gorgeous, not to mention the models; they manage to make the most elegant of gowns look cool and on-trend as they effortlessly rock the embroidered leather and denim jackets with grit and grace. We love it! And this isn’t the first shoot of 2018 to feature a mix of retro, slung-off-the-shoulder jackets. Back in Feb we featured a ‘Back to ‘Basics’ woodland shoot where one of the prominent shoot props was a black leather jacket. We are predicting this trend will hit the roof this Spring and Summer. My only regret is not digging out my old washed denim piece for my wedding a few years back….I definitely think I could’ve rocked it!
The inspo for the shoot was raw beauty, romance and bohemian glamour. With contrasting textures, dusky bold rose flower crowns and stylised with an ‘oh-so-cool’ vibe, it’s safe to say the girls nailed it. Let’s hand over to Brown Birds to give us a little more detail….
Wonderland in the Wilderness
Words by Emily and Laura, Brown Birds
The inspiration behind the shoot was to create a delicate heavenly wonderland set in the depths of the wilderness. A glamorous type of raw beauty styled to perfection by Brown Birds and photographed by Ella Violet Photography, with the use of statement flower crowns to stand out against the stunning natural woodland setting.
We wanted the perfect mix of a bohemian and luxe wedding vibe by using our vintage props, elegant bridal gowns and the late winter and early spring palette of exquisite flowers by The Country Garden Flower Company.
A beautiful secret location, we opted for contrasting textures, using Bertie and Fred’s delicate hand dyed cheesecloth with our new range of reclaimed wooden table, perfect for banquet style dining with an extravagant floral centerpiece. The use of mixed metallic highlighted accents of golden roses, reflected the styling of stunning brassware, copper cutlery and gold charger plates used on the tables and provided the lift needed to compliment and illuminate the other furnishings. We also set up a romantic outdoor ceremony within the hazel arch using our antique ornate chairs to line the aisle. Following the trends for 2018, our favourite area has to be the cosy corner including some of our newest additions a vintage Gin bar and opulant emerald green chesterfield sofa. Not forgetting our striking rustic door backdrop dressed with deer horns and foliage.
Apple Tree Cake Designs created an impressive but modest 3 tier ivory cake, enhanced with fresh flowers, which sat beautifully on our vintage console table beneath the amazing floral hoops.
Our floral inspiration was gathered from the stunning surroundings, and the determination of what the season has to offer. A transitional time between Late Winter and early Spring, before all of the bright and light tones of true Spring arrive. Concentrating on the deep sumptuous tones of the early Hellebores, Faded Hydrangeas, Witch Hazel, Early Tulips, Ranunculus and the tones of the late winter evergreen foliage, bought to life the surrounding carpet of fallen leaves. With the addition of tendrilling vines within the bouquet, these picked up on the beauty of the venue’s stunning natural woodland canopy.
Our models Charlotte and Joanie, wore Watters Wtoo, Riki Dalal, Haarlem Bridal all from Halo + Wren. Add in an oversized denim jacket and cropped leather biker jacket with personalized motif designed by Lucky Sew and Sew exclusive to Rock The Frock accessorised with Sash and Veils gorgeous ‘Gemma’ design and lace edged Juilet Cap Veil or for the adventurous Bride a dramatic Birdcage Veil and you’ve got the edgy Bride look. Leanne from LM make up created a dramatic look for our models, with heavy smokey eyes and bold lip colours which contrasted against their chic dresses and wild surroundings. Charlotte’s romantic blonde waves were a perfect match for her elaborate flower crown for the first look. Natalie Jane Hair then created a textured effortless pretty updo that complimented the veil and birdcage veil. Joanie has an amazing afro which was amplified to showcase her sensational floral hair piece.
We wanted to inspire couples to take advantage of our natural surroundings and the raw beauty of woodland weddings. To be bold and stay true to their individual styles and embrace unconventional ideas to create ‘one off’ wedding days.
