If you are searching for a wedding dress that is bohemian, free spirited, elegant, intricate and unique then my lovelies, allow me to introduce you to Jessica Turner Designs. An innovative new bridal designer based in London who specialises in the most wonderful bridal separates, silk-knit bodices and corsets, dip-dyed pieces, detachable statement sleeves and floaty skirts. Her new collection, Blue Skies, is inspired by nature and features embroidered birds, delicate lace feathers and dip died corsets and skirts that echo the colours of the sky. Her fashion forward style is very unique and that is why we love her. Her pieces are designed for brides who like something different, a little wild and veer away from tradition.
Bridal separates are set to be very en vogue for 2018 and the Blue Skies collection embraces this trend whilst capturing the essence of a real-world reverie. After all, you will feel like you are living in a dream world on your wedding day so your dress should echo this too!
Look out for the Verticordia corset with the feather straps – we are in love with it! You should also take 5 minutes to read through the inspired by nature section. Here Jessica shares with us the story behind her gorgeous collection and it is well worth a read….
Silk Knit Fabric….
Jessica’s stunning silk-knit fabric is her signature piece that is instantly recognisable, and brings the romance back to knit. She uses the finest silk yarns to finish the look with a striking sheen that shows off the beautiful texture. In the Blue Skies collection, Jessica’s dip-dye technique gives life to an arresting range of blues, greys and whites. This is exemplified in her stunning ‘Lobelia’ bridal bodice, made from silk yarn and ‘Lobelia’ bridal skirt dip-dyed to create the illusion of the sky.
Inspired By Nature….
When working on a new piece, Jessica taps into nature, gathering inspiration from delicate flowers and textured plants – and that has always been her style, having been brought up surrounded by the forest’s natural beauty. After reading Rewild Yourself: Becoming Nature by Rachel Corby, she realised that she had a story to tell, and that story is told through Blue Skies.
Everyone has to endure some moment of struggle in life, be it losing a relative, finding the right partner, trying to conceive, or losing a loved one. For Jessica, this was her father’s cruel battle with cancer whilst trying to start her own family. Rewild Yourself is about connecting with nature as the modern world begins to diminish our innate wildness. Jessica saw a blue tit resting in the middle of a pathway, and as she passed, the tiny bird didn’t move. She edged closer, even managing to touch it before it flew away. Jessica believes this to be a sign of hope and encouragement to hold fast. Her embroidered bird and feather detail is a symbol of strength in the face of adversity and marks a tribute to the strength of the human experience and as a reflection of her past.
Jessica’s brides can err on the side of adventurous with her distinctive corsets, bohemian style, and dip-dyed skirts. Every look is tinged with romance, and elegant to the last. She offers a bespoke service where brides can combine their own inspirations with Jessica’s looks to create something personalised and unique. At her appointments brides are able to sample her bridal separates and have expert advice on what works for them and their figure.
