Oh my my my are you going to LOVE today’s styled shoot. Captured so beautifully by Alex Mari Photography and featuring a bohemian vibe that has completely captured my heart, today’s shoot is all about a free spirited bride and groom who dare to be different. A couple who are strong, confident and a little wild with a carefree attitude that say’s, ‘this is my wedding, I shall do with it as I please!’
We wanted this wedding to be more than just another styled shoot – we aimed to capture the essence, emotions and authenticity of a real wedding day planned by a couple with killer personal style, and a willingness to go against the grain when it came to the details and design elements of the day. We imagine this couple to be thrill seekers, world travelers, admirers of nature, and of course madly in love.
There are so many details in this shoot that I love and they speak for themselves as to why. The dress with its stunning lace back, the bride’s hair with it’s knots and twists, the desert location with it’s raw beauty, the ceremony set up in front of a glass pane greenhouse, the cake and its mint green colour, the tequila bar with its blush cocktails and the Moroccan influence through the lamps and textiles. I love that it is a shoot that has the confidence to do things differently – to be individual and set a new trend. The brides almost grunge like makeup to some might seem too much but for me I love it. It reflects her personality and individual style. It makes her unique.
There is so much wonderful inspiration within this shoot but if I was to pick one thing to take from it, it would be the confidence of the bride and groom to be themselves on their wedding day. That my lovelies is what makes every wedding, no matter what style or theme, AWESOME. To be yourself on your wedding day is what we encourage every single day on Festival Brides and this shoot is right on point with that mission.

Essence, Emotion and Authenticity….
Christina and Josh “tied the knot” outside of a glass pane greenhouse, and celebrated with close friends and a tequila bar, because in all reality, who wouldn’t? RA Bistro mixed two signature drinks for the soiree, including a tequila blackberry orange smash, and a grapefruit jalapeno margarita to bring in some desert flavor and color. We loved the greenhouse option for the ceremony because it was a way to utilize a clean, botanical background in a wedding taking place in the colder months of Virginia. Lauren, our stylist, also incorporated Moroccan inspiration through lamps and woven rugs to represent the couple’s affinity for travel. Of course, pampas grass and desert plants had to be included. Lauren designed a stunning bouquet that incorporated both. We loved the idea of trimming down the wedding day itinerary to create an intimate affair that fit our couple’s individuality, so the ceremony was limited to under ten guests. Just a nice number to celebrate with very close family and friends, while maintaining the intimacy we so strongly desired to incorporate. At the end of the day, the couple popped open some smoke bombs and cuddled in the colorful plumes. We really hope that this will show couples that you can have an offbeat wedding that isn’t confined to the books. It is always so important to plan the most important day of your life around the two people who are going to be living it together.
