Morning! I hope you are all having a good week and the sun is shining where you are. It is gorgeous in Kent today.
If you are in the midst of planning your wedding then listen up! Most Curious, the wedding show for the style savvy couple, is back for 2018 and is promising to be the biggest, baddest and most coolest one yet. With two different locations in London and Norwich and a whole plethora of some of the UK’s best wedding suppliers (and really – they truly are), this is a show that should definitely be on your hit list, especially if you are looking for alternative wedding suppliers and inspiration.
The show runs at The Old Truman Brewery in London on the 2nd-4th March and then moves onto The Fire Pit in Norwich on the 25th March. Location and ticket details can be found here and in case you still need a bit of convincing to attend, here are 11 reasons why you should book your tickets now!
FYI: They had me at gin bar…..
One: FEAST AND GIN BAR!
New for 2018 we will have the FEAST Food Hall with delicious sweet and savoury street food and stalls from all over the world, including Filipino Street food from BBQ Dreamz, Greek Veggie platters from Isle of Olive, French Pattisserie yums from Jacques & Lillie and closer to home hot dogs from Walthamstow Dogs, as well as alcoholic sorbets from Sloshed Sorbets, craft beers from London Fields Brewery, good coffee and Espresso Martinis by Ruttle & Row There is also a Gin Bar by the Portobello Road Gin Distillery with special flavours and ingredients being made up for the show. A complimentary gin cocktail also awaits all VIP ticket holders.
Our catwalk shows have made a name for themselves as showing forward thinking trends and aisle inspiration aplenty unlike any other wedding show and this year we have created a whole catwalk zone in the T3 part of the Truman Brewery. It is at an extended length of 12 metres and there is enough seating for 100 along side it, with epic styling by our wardrobe team headed up by Luke Reene and also the catwalk itself will have a clean and crisp plastic fantastic theme in line with a nod to the 60s hippy-esque styling of the venue, created by Hazel Gardiner Floral design. There will be two shows per day inspired by 1) Peace Love and Understanding Modern Hippy vibes and 2) Architectural, minimal but volumous graphic looks. Exciting! (Some shots from last year’s show by Olivia and Dan) Plus a look at our new T3 space.
We’ll also be treated to some live music from the catwalk too from our fave live lounge vibe duo Kate and Dave who play jazz versions from everything from Seven Nation Army, to My Baby Just Cares For Me to The Ace of Spades! We’ve got Wedding Smashers on the decks throughout the show too, who will also be bringing a pop up record store where you can take your pick of some classic vinyl!
Four: EVEN MORE VENDORS
This year we have over 170 exhibitors – meaning we are now actually one of the biggest wedding shows in the UK, certainly the biggest indie wedding show ran by a grass root team and outlook, in the whole of the country! And every single one is hand picked and curated to make sure they are design and fashion led and just super fun and style-focused.
Five: STYLING THEME INSPO
Absorbing trends seen in fashion, art, design and forward thinking media right now, the shows styling team will take inspiration from the Haight-Ashbury psychedelic flower power aesthetic and bring it up to date with a modern city hippy vibe.
THERE WILL ALSO BE A HEAD HEIGHT HAND DRAWN MURAL INCORPORATED INTO THE TEXTURED WALL BY SPOONFUL OF SUGAR INCORPORATING THE MARRIAGE MATERIAL MOTIF THAT IS NOW SYNONYMOUS WITH THE 2018 SHOW MERCH , FOR THE ULTIMATE SELFIE WALL OPPORTUNITY!
Venue styling pros Lullaby Inc will be styling up the Feast area and HAZEL GARDINER FLORAL DESIGN WILL BE TAKING UP THE 60S THEME TOO, FOR THE BRAND NEW CATWALK AREA. SHE IS GOING WITH A PLASTIC FANTASTIC MEETS FLOWER POWER VIBE, THAT ALSO BRINGS TOGETHER THE PERSPEX THEME FROM THE 2018 MOST CAMPAIGN IMAGES. FLOWERS WILL BE ENCASED IN ACRYLIC OR WRAPPED BEHIND POLYTHENE FOR A TOTALLY CONCEPTUAL AND INNOVATIVE TAKE ON DECOR STYLING TO INSPIRE OUR CREATIVE VISITORS.
Six: Xian Hui Hale
This year the MARCH 2018 shows are dedicated to Xian Hui Hale, our founder Becky’s little baby girl. Becky was pregnant with Xian Hui during the 2017 events but at 24 weeks, Xian Hui devastatingly died before she was born. Always loved and always missed, Most Curious 2018 is run in her honour. So Hazel Gardiner will also be creating a beautiful installation in the entrance space Xian Hui and all babies and people lost too soon. Clouds of gypsophila and blossom will fill the entrance space along with peace sign motifs, in line with the shows campaign shoot and the modern hippy theme, but to also symbolise it as a space for a moment of peace and rememberence for all those we will be forever missing. There will also be placards for people to write the name of that someone they wish they could see again, baby, child, parent, or otherwise. It will of course offer venue styling inspiration for prospective couples (it is a wedding show after all!) but please allow us a little moment to remember and pay tribute to Xian Hui.
We are donating 10% from every London advance ticket sold to 4Louis who provide bereaved parents with memory boxes free of charge to those who suffer a stillbirth or neonatal death.
Seven: INTERNATIONAL VIBES
The show has evolved to be an international destination for both visitors and exhbitors and we are super excited to welcome have bridal designers from all over, such as Ritual Unions joining us from Germany and Naves and Violet Tannenbaum joining us from France, as well as all the best of London and the UK has to offer. A current list is here, being updated daily. So you can see and meet brands from all over the world under one industrial style roof, all in one day, rather than weeks of research over the internet and pinterest and trying to find out where the heck that picture came from.
Eight: NEW SERVICES, PRODUCT AND COLLECTION LAUNCHES
Many bridal wear brands use the show to launch their never been seen before 2018 collections and use the show as their target date to reveal them for the first time, so come and see it all unfold. Other brands also launch new directions, products and services, everything from hire companies, caterer, cakes, stationery, flowers, you name it, if a company has been thinking about bringing the new, Most Curious will be the platform they use to reach as many cool couples and press as possible for its first public outing!
