‘Wait, what? No 10 Ways to Make Life Lovely?!’
…Well, guys! If we’re all being super honest, we figured for the most people right now, helping you nail your Christmas shopping was probably one of the loveliest things we could offer you! So, with that in mind, we endeavoured to scout out our favourite gift ideas for 10 different types of recipient that are either available on Amazon Prime (seen as most other stores cut off date was yesterday!) or in a store you’re likely to have at your local retail park… Phew!
That said, it may be that some of these gifts aren’t available to order in time, but hopefully they’ll inspire some ideas for that final push this weekend! Especially for those hard-to-buy-for candidates… We all have at least one!
Let’s get straight into it then shall we?! Grab your purse, a glass of something festive and let us do the hard work for you!
For if they’ve had a rough year…
I’m just gonna get straight into it with the person in your life that might need a pick me up most. 2017 has been an incredible year for us, but we’re well aware that for many, the struggle actually is real. So with that in mind, we’ve lined up some little treats (none of which will break the bank) so you can lift anyone in your life that needs it!
Lush have come up with this fab little recyclable black box for you to fill with mini bath oils. That’s four moisture-filled, intentionally and beautifully scented baths, and all for just over a tenner!
We’ve also fallen head over heels for this Anxiety Journal available from Urban Outfitters. The perfect little book to help your recipient work through and bring awareness to their mental health (and it’s cute looking, bonus!)
Heath + Heather Teas available at Holland + Barret. Because hey, we’re Brits and when the going get’s tough, we drink tea! Make each cup as beneficial as possible with these relaxing herbal blends.
For the Page Turner…
From thoughtful YA fiction, to the perfect coffee table poetry book from an Instagram favourite, if there’s a reader in your life one of these three books may be the one!
The Book of Dust, one of this year’s bestsellers, is the first instalment of a second trilogy from Pullman. So many loved His Dark Materials trilogy, and by all accounts this one is a serious page turner too.
Wonder, a beautiful piece of YA fiction that really tugs at the heartstrings. An exploration of friendship, tenacity and kindness that speaks as much to adults as it does teenagers!
For the person who’s got everything!
Like I said, we all have at least one of these! Or maybe even a Secret Santa gift for someone you don’t know so well? Here are a selection of completely miscellaneous, yet utterly gorgeous (or hilarious!) gifts!
Caitlin Keegan’s Illuminated Tarot Cards are just one of the most gorgeous things I’ve seen all year, and you better believe they’re on my Christmas list! Perfect for those looking for guidance as we head into 2018 or card-game lovers who just want a really fresh looking set of cards. Available from Amazon and Urban Outfitters.
The Celestial Mug by Urban Outfitters. Super on trend, you can’t really go wrong with a constellation covered mug, can you?!
I spotted Urban Olfactory in Boots, but I believe they’re also available in TK Maxx and John Lewis, and let me tell you their carefully curated scents are just stunning, and who doesn’t love a scented candle (or reed diffuser!).
And if you’re really struggling?! There’s always Cards Against Humanity – suitable only for those with a rather dark sense of humour, to say the least!
For the Little Ones…
Undoubtedly the most colourful segment of today’s gift list, buying something different and beautiful for the little ones in your life can be tricky, especially if you don’t have kids of your own! Here’s what we’ve found:
Grimm’s Rainbow Stacker, these divine carved lime wood toys are simplicity at its best. Just enough colour and form to jump start your kid’s imagination, they provide hours of fun while also being sustainably sourced and environmentally friendly. All boxes = ticked.
Some of our favourite books for small people right now include:
Feelings by Libby Walden. With Richard Jones’ enchanting illustrations, and the lyrical text, each and every feeling comes to life to help children understand the emotions they experience.
Introducing Teddy a gentle story for young readers to understanding gender identity and transition in an accessible and heart-warming story about being true to yourself and being a good friend.
Once Upon an Alphabet, bringing the alphabet to life in irresistible Oliver Jeffer’s style! The letters of our alphabet work tirelessly to make words that in turn make stories, but what if there was a story for each of the letters instead?!
For the Feminist…
2017 has seen the rise of the female for sure (and long may it continue!). So if you’ve got a boss babe in your life, or someone who needs to feel that girl power love right now, spread some serious feminine energy with these fun gifts! All available from your local Urban Outfitters.
The Grown Ass Women’s Club, a witty female empowerment journal complete with badges and blank spaces to help ladies plan how change the world!
Because you know we love a wall tapestry, and this GRL PWR one is a stonker. Casual wall art at its finest, kudos UO!
The Little Book of Feminism – the essential pocket guide for every one!
And finally, who doesn’t need a boob cushion in their lives?! We love this subtle-while-statement black print.
For their Stocking…
Stocking fillers. They can be the best presents, but man is it hard to be original these days, huh?! We came up with these little gems…
This super minimal and modern incense holder by Urban Outfitters.
These particularly cute hanging animals, perfect for the crazy plant lady/guy in your life, from Another Studio, via Trouva.
The Keepcup. Because we all need to up our game in 2018 where disposable cups are concerned, and a Keepcup is hands down the most stylish way to do so! Available in all kinds of cute colour combos and sizes on Amazon and at Urban Outfitters.
For the Home Bod…
As first time home owners this year (whoop!) this category speaks to me on a whole other level. Honestly, I could’ve done an entire post just on home gifts alone! But you’ll be relieved to know I restrained, so here are just three favourites this Christmas…
These chic copper ombré stemless wine glasses. What’s not to love about that sentence?! Copper, yes. Ombré, yes. Stemless glass, yes. Wine, YES. Available in store at Urban Outfitters and keep an eye out for their stemless champagne flutes too (sold out online, but they’re gorgeous!)
An analogue flip clock. These guys are everywhere on Pinterest, and with good reason! They’ve got that so-functional-it’s-cool air about them. We love this mini one by Habitat.
So Cali-cool, the copper tinted mirror is set to be right on trend for 2018, plus they’re all kinds of feel-good flattering! We love this simple, stylish piece from Urban Outfitters.
For the Bed Head…
I don’t know about you lot, but I LOVE receiving gifts that come with a recommendation, it makes me all the more excited to try them! So here’s a couple of bits that some of my favourite haircare specialists have recommended, and I’ve tried and loved…
The Wetbrush. It just glides. Through anything. A little firmer than the renowned tangle teasers, the Wetbrush bristles don’t simply smooth over tangles, they get stuck in and sort them right out with as little damage (or pain!) as possible. Available from Amazon, and many independent hair salons.
MoroccanOil Light. The ‘Light’ bit is very important! For those friends who want super glossy locks, but find most serums to be too heavy for their fine texture hair, this super light oil is perfect! Again, available from Amazon, but also many independent salons.
For the Vegan…
It has been the buzzword of 2017, and that looks set to continue for 2018 too! Where once upon a time you may knew one lonely vegan, you’re probably finding you now have more like 5-10 friends who’ve adopted a plant-based lifestyle, or are considering taking up the gauntlet of ‘Veganuary’ to start the New Year. So what could you buy them to aid their trial of the all-green life? Check it out…
Books books books. From amazingly simple, nutritious cookbooks such as Forks Over Knives or the Happy Pear, or books to educate themselves further about the benefits of a plant-based lifestyle, such as Whole. There are a wealth of incredible recipe books and engaging educational texts around Veganism. All available from Amazon, but do check your local book store too!
Established and new vegans alike will LOVE you forever if you buy them a box of Booja Booja truffles this Christmas! Hands down the best dairy-free chocolates we’ve ever had, they’re a little on the pricier side, but worth every penny. Available at most supermarkets and Holland & Barret. YUM.
Whether you buy an entire subscription, or give a gift card to contribute to their boxes, The Vegan Kind subscription box is a fantastic gift for plant-based recipients. Full of unusual and exciting goodies!
For the Beauty Queen…
And finally, for the beauty-lover, don’t just opt for the standard ‘smellies’, check out these exciting new brands, and the only red lip
you your friends (ahem!) will be needing this Christmas…
Sukin skincare. An Aussie brand that’s just landed in store at Boots, they’ve been our go-to for months now. With ranges to suit different skin types, their products are cruelty free and vegan, as well as free from all kinds of nasties, and all for a great price point. Who doesn’t love to be gifted skincare?! Also available on Amazon.
Smashbox Always On matte liquid lipstick in the shade ‘Bang Bang’. It’s a sell out, because frankly, it’s a killer red lip that doesn’t shift! Perfect for Christmas nail when, frankly, all you do is eat! Available from Boots and Debenhams.
And finally, we stumbled across the lovely brand BWC (Beauty Without Cruelty) in Boots recently and fell in love with their environmentally-friendly nail polishes. A perfectly thoughtful little token gift this Christmas.
Babes! The last 10 Ways (well, sort of!) and my last post of 2017! It’s been wild! As ever, I hope you’ve found some inspiration and ideas from today’s special festive post, and good luck with any last minute shopping.
Have an amazing Christmas and a fabulous New Year, stay safe and merry! We’ll see you on the flip side!
Peace + Love
