Morning Lovely People,

It’s Friday! I don’t know about you but I am so looking forward to the weekend. I need some much needed lie ins and some much needed Christmas shopping time. I haven’t even started yet but this weekend I’m heading to London and Portobello Market in the hope to find some cool presents for family. Hoping to fit in a Christmas Market at some point as well – need to get my mulled wine fix!

We have a beautiful autumnal shoot to inspire you today. Put together by Penny from The Little Lending Company and Darena of DS Photography, this gorgeous Woodland Picnic Shoot is full of warming colours, gorgeous wild flowers and beautiful styling ideas for the winter brides amongst you. Look out for the ice skates filled with flowers – genius.

Penny tells us about how the shoot came to light…..

Myself and Darena (that I met at my cousins wedding this summer) just got to talking about shooting and how we’d love a day out in the woods. We both have a love for simplicity and we’re really looking forward to working together. This time of year is so perfect with the dim light against the vibrant autumn colours for secret wedding ceremonies. Walking through the winding woodland paths we just couldn’t wait to to get started!

I loved the idea of showing an intimate woodland picnic as a wedding breakfast idea with each of the guests picking up a blanket on the way in and finding a spot in the clearing to lunch from a hamper. The Little Lending Co. hires hand made crochet blankets, old chests, chairs and other timeless props and hadn’t been on location with them yet so just couldn’t wait to set up the scene of a relaxed setting on the woodland floor.

I created a backdrop using a large vintage crochet table cloth which would work as a focal point for an outdoor ceremony or photo area. Our wooden drinks trolley was filled with our old buckets for champagne, brass and glass candle sticks and mini vintage glass bottles and books, keeping the rich autumnal vibe all around us with the props.

The flowers were just perfectly overgrown, with hints of vibrant purple on the table centre. The flower crown was wild and literally just picked and wired in front of us all! Foliage of rich greens to make the crown looked organic, and would lend well to being a hanging wreath afterwards at this time of year too! Our bride looked relaxed in the simple silhouette dresses and no fuss hair and make-up, in this shoot we wanted to show natural beauty of our girl, the woodland and the flowers and foliage. The photographers wanted to use as much natural light as possible in the images which really makes for simply breathtaking shots. We wanted to get back to nature and how easy and simple a wedding can be. Imagine being invited to a picnic party in the woods with wellies as an essential, we don’t think it could get any better!
