After Clare’s stunning post about succulents the other day.. We went a little bit crazy for all shades of muted green. Penny from The Little Lending Company got in touch and told us about her green party shoot – With a focus on the cake table and making it just a little bit more interesting… It’s not just about the cake!!

Terracotta pots full of homegrown succulents and cactus, earth ware and a whole lotta moss we’re brought to the table. This was one cake table styled with a difference. The wedding cake table is taking center stage and no longer are cakes just put in the corner on any spare table sitting on a silver cake board. Oh no! With this shoot we wanted to try something slightly different for the un-conventional and off-beat bride to ponder…

The Little Party Company made a selection of mini rustic desserts and little printables to be as grounded as their surroundings. Keeping it simple and ‘down to earth’, with glazed donuts, crumbling chocolate brownies, iced carrot and nutmeg cakes and chunky cheesecake slices seemed perfect for this relaxed tablescape. Tables with a selection on means you’re going to cater for all your guests. The blackboard and chalk tent cards worked beautifully with the black slate tiles they sat on.

The Little Lending Co.’s hired potted plants gave a fresh green backdrop of succulents and cactus for a very different look at ‘wedding flowers’ and plant hire and adding mini deer sculls this was no ordinary wedding table. Wooden tray boxes we’re filled with homegrown plants and looked lush against the pops of yellow on the table. With their drinks dispensers filled with lemonade and mini milk bottles with matching yellow stripy straws this gave a classic drink a fresh look.

The oversized moss covered letters by The Country Garden Florist finished this green dream off with a punch. A retro lemon Bundt cake took center with fresh lemon zest, viola flowers, thyme and marjoram leaves. ‘Smile and Eat Cake’ topper in acrylic by Love Toppings just added a little more quirk and personality.

After all, aren’t weddings all about the cake?
