Grace and Jack’s Outdoor Anglo-American DIY Wedding

Grace and Jack’s Outdoor Anglo-American DIY Wedding

This morning’s handpicked aspiration is a pretty outdoor wedding from across the globe handed to us by the beautifully talented Mairead McDaid of Remain in Light. The couple were so taken with her work, they flew her out stateside to capture their once-in-a-lifetime day! The super laidback couple got married in Grace’s American hometown of Michigan, where she chose to unite at her childhood home set by the lake and surrounded by glorious outdoor woodland. Her family home played host to a global, Anglo-American fusion wedding with guests from all around the world uniting in a woodland ceremony and al-fresco style reception. The sunset, the lake, the authentic homemade elements and the relaxed vibes of this cultural celebration proves that home really is where the heart is.

Franki and Rob’s Vibrant Tropical Paradise DIY Festival Wedding

Morning gorgeous people! Hopefully you’re all feeling refreshed after the weekend. For us, another glorious Monday morning means another beautiful festival-inspired Real Wedding to share with all of you. This morning we’ve been ‘wowed’ by photographer Casey Avenue’s most recent artistic accomplishment, featuring a modern boho bride so super cool it hurts! Franki and Rob infused their Latin American influences and love of travel, food, wine, music and good times, to plan their vibrant festival wedding, aptly named ‘LoveSmash’ by the couple themselves. Showcasing some of the brightest and boldest décor to hit a blank canvas since 1976, these guys knew exactly what they wanted from their big day. Think glamping, fairy lights, fuschia meets nautical-blue, home-crafted dreamcatchers and a hippy mix of love, light and cool vibes, and you might just be on the right track! It’s so refreshing to see couples working their weddings against the grain and doing it all differently, and this colour-injected, collaborative showpiece by this smoothly eccentric couple is leading the way in true non-traditional wedding style…

Zoe and Daniel’s Chic Bohemian DIY Wedding

Some of the most aspirational weddings to feature on Festival Brides are often the most simplistically inspired. This wedding is so beautifully bohemian it makes us wish to re-plan our weddings all over! The talented Grace Elizabeth Phtography has, once again, captured the essence of a wedding so pure it’s impossible not to get taken by the beauty of it. Zoe and Daniel’s ethereal wedding took place at the Blackfriars Priory in Gloucester, boasting a blank canvas so perfect, it gracefully offered itself as the chic, classical wedding venue that Zoe dreamed of. With hours upon hours spent hand-crafting candles, draping hand-picked garden greenery and delicately adorning the space with intricate DIY décor, this bride had a clear vision for the day. Elegant, pretty and delightfully uncomplicated, she describes her wedding as ‘classical-meets-bohemian with a touch of barefoot chic’! And we couldn’t agree more….

Roxy and James’ Rural Bohemian DIY Wedding

Five cups of coffee, half a pack of tissues and bucket-load of lemon sorbet…. and I’m finally ready to share my very own Real Wedding with you beautiful Festival Brides readers! Writing a Real Wedding feature about my own wedding has been a total emotional delight. I think I’ve brought a whole new meaning to the phrase ‘happy tears’… I’m sure most brides will agree that this pinnacle day in all of relationship history is so sacred that it’s often indescribable to people that weren’t actually there with you, living and breathing the moment for themselves. However, through bloodshot eyes and smiling cheeks, I’ve really tried my best to share our wedding with you as honestly and authentically as I can, in the hope that our alternative, outdoor, rustic, bohemian day will give inspiration to all you free-spirited brides. Think hippy, laidback with an ethereal touch of old-chic glamour and a whole lotta LOVE and you will be on your way to envisioning our day. Using Festival Brides and Pinterest as my guide, (OK, so I know I’m biased, but Festival Brides is THE best inspirational blog for brides like us!), we managed to create a dreamy DIY wedding on a shoestring budget. With just a third of most couple’s average wedding-spend, I think we’ve proved that you don’t have to break your back (or the bank) trying to afford your perfect wedding. The only thing you really need….is love.
