I can’t believe that we have been running Independent Love Song as a regular Monday feature since September and this is the first time we’ve featured the legendary Rolling Stones! Shocking behaviour if you ask me considering they have wrote some of the most amazing rock ballads that exist to date.
Today’s Independent Love Song is inspired by singer, songwriter and actress Marianne Faithfull, whose BBC 6 music A Month of Sundays show was heavily influenced by her connections to The Rolling Stones. After listening yesterday, she reminded me of their amazing back catalogue of music, especially Sticky Fingers which has to be my favourite Rolling Stone album. Wild Horses, off this very album, is one of the many genius love tracks from The Rolling Stones. It’s a very romantic song that expresses the reality of love and relationships in a way only the stones can.
People have different interpretations of this song, some sad, some good – I think it’s a beautiful song about unconditional love and for that reason it makes a perfect choice for an alternative first dance love song.
‘Wild horses couldn’t drag me away……………..’
Ready for a TUNE!
Enjoy lovely people
I’ve gone all goose bumpy – love it!
