Hope you all had time to enjoy the sun – it was just lovely all weekend. For the first time in weeks Bob and I did absolutely nothing apart from chill in the garden, listen to 6 music, drink G&T’s and read. It was perfect and just what we needed.
I did manage to fit in some wedding shopping though – my coloured glass collection has a new addition of 6 orange vintage glasses! £4 for all 6 from a charity shop in Tunbridge Wells – they were a steal! If you’re wondering why I’m collectiong coloured glass then check out this post.
We have an absolute GEM of a first dance love song for you today. It’s a cover version of Elbow’s One Day Like This by The Big Ghana Band and it is genius.
Back in 2010, Cadbury Dairy Milk asked The Big Ghana Band to swap their usual songs for classic UK songs to support Fairtrade Fortnight’s Big Swap. They mixed their Ghanaian Afro music with classic pop songs and transformed them from an overplayed mainstream sound to something unique and alternative. The end result was a percussion masterpiece!
It wouldn’t surprise me if this is the first time you would have heard this song but I’m pretty sure it won’t be your last – it’s a great cover of an already beautiful love song.
