I have been so caught up in the launch of our Latitude Festival Wedding Competition that I almost forgot to post today’s Independent Love Song – how could I after almost 2 years of running this feature!? It’s a gooden today as well!
I heard Ends of The Earth by Lord Huron for the first time yesterday on Mary Anne Hobbs 6 Music morning show and I have been mesmerized by it ever since. Lord Huron are an American indie folk group from Los Angeles with a sound that’s reminiscent of The Fleet Foxes but with a more grungey undertone if you know what I mean!
Ends of The Earth is not really a love song in the traditional sense, in fact you might argue that it’s not a love song at all but then does your first dance song have to be about love? Can’t you just simply choose a track that you both love? To me this song is about spreading your wings, exploring the amazing world we live in and growing with the person you love whilst your doing it. After travelling for 2 years I can completely relate to the urgency Ben Schneider, vocals on this track, has to explore and how much he wants to do it with the person that he loves.
I think this song would make an amazing first dance love song for a couple with a mutual passion for travelling and exploring.
This is a stunning track and I’m looking forward to hearing a lot more from Lord Huron in 2013 – reckon their going to be big!
If you have any alternative first dance love song suggestions that you would like to feature in Independent Love Song then let us know – we would love to hear from you!
