Well Good Morning Lovely People,
I hope you all had a good weekend.
We have a lovely wedding to share with you all today, sent in by the extremely talented (those were the Bride’s words) Anneli Marinovich.
Hayley and John’s fabulous ‘GlamFest’ wedding was a day filled with relaxed festival vibes, family and friends and a touch of glamour. With personal details such as champagne corks collected throughout their relationship and Hayley’s gorgeous necklace that had been made from the gold from her late grandmother’s wedding and engagement ring – their wedding was full of those extra special touches that really made their day unique and special to them. Hayley and her Mum even handpicked and arranged all of the flowers, including her beautiful bouquet which we just love.
Look out for Hayley’s gorgoeus Temperley wedding dress and her excellent advice at the end of the post – every bride to be should take note.
Over to Hayley and John….
An Art Decor Hotel and One Knee….
John and I have been together for 5 years, he proposed to me whilst we were staying at the Burgh Island Hotel in Devon. Its a beautiful Art deco hotel. Johns proposal was extremely romantic and a complete surprise. We were dressed to the nines and getting ready to leave our room for dinner when John ‘popped the question’. In his tux, down on one knee he presented me with the most beautiful engagement ring and completely blew me away with his heartfelt words.
An Outdoor Tipi Wedding….
We dreamt about getting married in Ibiza, however, there was always going to be problems getting everyone over there and so in the end we decided it was a better idea to do it in the UK. We saw some pictures of tipis being used for events, and just fell in love with the idea of having an outdoor tipi wedding! Relaxed festival vibes, with absolutely no slumming it – lots of matting and posh loos!
DIY Decor, Reindeer Hides and a Collection of Corks….
We decorated the tipi and venue using reindeer hides on the benches and hay bales, diptyque candles, mismatched glass vases and candles on the tables, pom pom and round paper lanterns in the beams of the tipis, log fires, lavender hearts and lavender name places with green velvet ribbon and brown luggage labels. Our table number holders were made using corks that John and I had collected during our travels and special occasions over the years. I glue gunned them tougher in eights and tied brown string around them, the table numbers then just slid in. John made the wedding app info holders using our corks too, he just cut a little slit at the top of each – and voilà.
A Mothers Touch….
All flowers were done by my creative and extremely talented Mum Vicky. It was so cool planning the flowers with my Mum, we had a great time, even going to the flower market at 5am to collect all the flowers! Under my Mums guidance I even made my own bouquet. I was pretty happy with it too, it came out really well and was just what I wanted.
An Intimate Legal Ceremony, Glam Dresses, A Tux and The Waltz….
We had to get married prior to the tipi wedding because we couldn’t get ‘legally’ married in the field. We chose to do this with our closest family back at Burgh Island where John proposed. There was 7 of us in total, we had a small romantic ceremony in the captains room. All the boys wore a tux and the Mums looked great in their glam dresses. I wore a traditional long sleeve style lace dress from Isabelle Marant and my Mum made my veil. Following the ceremony we had a cream tea and champagne reception in the garden suite. In the evening we all dressed for dinner and enjoyed our meal in the ballroom. Our first dance and husband and wife was a waltz to the resident live band. It was the most magical day and evening I know I’ll never forget.
We had a such an amazing time getting married in Devon but we wanted our tipi wedding to be a little different, basically – a big celebration with a wedding in the middle!
John’s brother Mikey led our outdoor blessing. He did a great job, we were so proud.
A Day of Close Friends Laughing and Drinking….
Everyone seemed to have a great time. Even though we didn’t have the best weather all day, we had all our nearest and dearest there joining in, having a blast. Once the threat of rain had gone, the afternoon faded into a beautiful sunset. We enjoyed the evening dancing, laughing, drinking whisky in the Garden Lounge and some brave guests had fun taking turns to row across the lake. The day was so special, all our closest friends came together especially for us and really made the day what it was.
After putting so much into the planning and execution of the day, my favourite part was having the whole morning to chill out with my girls and get ready at a snails pace! Breakfast in the room, giggles and catching up.
Any Advice for Couples Planning Their Wedding Day?
If you’re a keen crafter like I am, know when you’ve given yourself enough to do. Don’t leave yourself too much to do the days/evening before. You can’t grantee that there won’t be something come up (amongst other things we had our evening band cancel 2 days prior, and our tableware was delayed and came only the evening before the wedding.) So for me, before I knew it, I had these other things that I had to sort which left me trying to catch up on what I originally had to do. You’ll have people around you to help but be prepared that whilst your telling everyone where ‘that goes’ and how ‘this ties’ etc you wont be getting any of the jobs YOU planned to get done even started. So, do less, organise what you will do, chill out as much as you can and spend time talking it all through in detail with your helpers.
