World Inspired Tents are what we like to call the veterans of Tipi companies. Launched in 2007, they were one of the first UK suppliers of tipis for weddings and were also one of the first tipi companies to support Festival Brides when we launched in 2011. These guys know what they are talking about when it comes to supplying tipis for outdoor festival weddings. They have lived and breathed tipis now for 10 years and they have a whole wealth of knowledge behind, not to mention their amazing team which is always commended for their excellent customer service.

We asked them a few questions about how it all began and what they have learnt in the 10 Years they have been supplying tipis for weddings….

Tell us a little bit about yourselves? What made you decide to start World Inspired Tents?

We are Ed and Donna Wright, the husband and wife team who established World Inspired Tents back in 2007.  We came across the tipis at a country fair in the summer of 2006 and instantly knew that we had made a bit of a discovery!

Having just planned our own wedding in a traditional marquee, we were well aware just how limited the choices were for wedding marquees.  The Giant Hats struck us as such a beautiful and atmospheric alternative to any other temporary structure we had seen before, and we knew that they would make for a really magical wedding venue.

Within a year of our first encounter with the tipis we were taking delivery of our own, and World Inspired Tents was born!

What makes your tipis and the services you supply stand out from a crowd?

Our experience and reputation sets us aside from much of the crowd.  We now have ten years of knowledge and experience and many hundreds of successful events under our belts. We have grown significantly since starting out in 2007 and a large part of this growth is thanks to word of mouth recommendations (our testimonials page gives a flavour).

Despite our size, we are still every bit the family run business that was established back in 2007. We have a tightly knit team of experienced staff, all of whom are committed to giving our customers the bespoke, personal service that we pride ourselves in offering.

Anyone booking with World Inspired Tents should expect to receive a first class experience. From the initial enquiry, right through to the tipis being taken down, our events team is on hand to support with any queries or aspects of planning that our customers require. Some brides have a really clear picture of what they want and prefer to be independent; others require more support throughout the planning process, which we are more than happy to provide.

We work closely with our customers to create the perfect tipi configuration for their big day, dependent on their guest numbers and the shape and size of their site. We take time to ensure that the tipi configuration and interior layout work perfectly for each customer’s individual needs, producing floor plans for them and other suppliers to use.  We recommend which furnishings can work, and other super wedding suppliers if required.

Our growth has allowed us to acquire a comprehensive stock of back-up kit and vehicles.  We always hold tipis and equipment in reserve, which gives our customers the peace of mind that we can deliver 100% of the time. We are also proud members of MUTA, the UK’s marquee and temporary structure regulatory body, who monitor their members’ health and safety standards, ensuring that our customers and their guests stay safe. 

2017 sees you celebrating your 10 year anniversary. How have the tipis and the services you offer changed in those 10 years?

The tipis themselves have not changed a great deal in the last 10 years, which is a testament to the wonderful design created by Tentipi.  Having said this, in 10 years there have been a number of subtle design changes to the finer details.  Thanks to a passionate belief in continuous improvement from Tentipi.

What has changed is the amount of furnishings and accessories we can offer to accompany the tipis themselves.  We have one of the most extensive ranges of stock of any tipi rental business in the country.

Finally, the expertise we offer our customers is unsurpassed. With ten years of tipi events behind us, there is very little that we don’t know about how what goes in to creating a successful tipi wedding!

Do you have any good tips for styling, dressing and lighting your tipis?

1) Don’t feel like you need to over-dress the tipis.  Our tipis work well with almost any styling theme and colour scheme, although demand very little in the way of decoration as the structures themselves really are so beautiful and atmospheric.

2) Even if you are having a summer wedding, it is essential that you have a space heater.  Surprisingly, even balmy summers evenings can become chilly.  Regard a heater as an insurance policy – you may not need it, but you will be grateful if you do.

3) We would encourage you to visit our gallery and Pinterest boards, which are packed full of styling ideas.

4) We suggest that our customers include fairy lights and an open fire, whatever the season! The fire is truly a unique feature within the tipis, creating warmth and atmosphere.

5)  Last but not least, make it your own!

What’s your best piece of advice to couples trying to choose a venue where your tipis can be used?

Our best piece of advice above all else is to consider the needs of your guests.  Think about who will be sharing you day and how the venue will accommodate your needs.

Within reason our tipis can go almost anywhere.  There are some considerations to be made in relation to the slope, drainage, access and exposure of the site and we will happily advise on all of these aspects.

You must have done your fair share of outdoor weddings in the past 10 years. Are there any that really stand out and why?

There are so many that stand out, it’s really hard to choose!

We LOVE being involved with big weddings, collaborating with other suppliers (many of whom we have worked with frequently).  It’s great to see what the stylists and florists create in terms of new tipi wedding styling ideas and their interpretation of current trends.

At the other end of the spectrum, the DIY weddings are some of the most magical, where friends and family pitch in, sharing talents for to create really personal touches. These are the weddings that often inspire us with their creative and original ways of using and styling the spaces created in the tipis.

Often the weddings that really stand out are those that focus on the little details – for example from personalised favours and the use of seasonal ingredients and locally sourced produce in the menu right through to carefully planned themes and co-ordinated colours.

Finally, what’s your life quote/motto at World Inspired Tents?

Our reputation means everything to us, and we have a simple company ethos (which can be considered a bit of a team mantra), and that is to exceed expectations every time.  This is at the heart of everything we do, from the events team in the office to the crews setting up the tipis.
