Afternoon Peeps!

For those of you who are a bit of a gypsy rose at heart, you are going to love Greg’s Gypsy Bowtop Caravans. Colourful, quirky, unique and inspirational are all words I would describe these awesome alternatives to modern day wedding accommodation.

Greg’s Gypsy Bowtop wagons are unique in that they are car towable gypsy caravans, as oppose to horse drawn, made on brand new Alco caravan chassis (largest supplier of caravan chassis in the world!).  Known as a Whoopi Wagon, this type of gypsy caravan first started being made in the 1950’s by the Romany People due to the increase in fuel driven vehicles, making both the roads busier and potentially more dangerous for the horse drawn caravans.

Based in Bristol, Greg’s Gypsy Bowtop is a family run business which was started 3 years ago after Greg (the owner) suffered a near fatal car accident during his previous job as a photo journalist. He was left with severe injuries and suffered short term memory loss which made it difficult for him to regain employment back in journalism.

It was after visiting a music festival and seeing a Whoopi Wagon that Greg was inspired to build his own and use it for family holidays.  However, there was so much interest that Greg began making them for commissions and thus, a business was born!

Each decorative wagon has been hand painted by Greg’s trained artist wife, Juliet, and they are amazing!

The interior layout includes a double sized bunk at the far end, bench seating with storage, a kitchen area, wardrobe and table.  It is fully insulated and completely waterproof.  It runs on electric hook up but also is adapted for independent use with a 12 volt battery.

With alternative free spirited themed weddings becoming popular, the hiring of these bowtops is a beautiful addition to a wedding venue as extra accommodation or used as a focal point. The beauty is that they can be very easily towed to any location – perfect for a festival wedding in a field!

They come complete with gypsy inspired bedding: cotton sheets, duvets and patchwork and crocheted blankets.  As well as accommodating for any other specific requirements, eg, floral decoration, fairy lights, specific soft furnishings.

The cost for hiring one of these caravans is £295 for two nights plus delivery and collection.

There are three wagons available, each with it’s own unique character.
