Emma_Phil_wedding-747What up, gorgeous people!

It’s my pleasure to introduce an amazing photographer to you guys this morning on the blog: Festival Brides, meet Ed Godden Photography. If you’re looking for a photographer with oodles of experience who can wholly trust, but still has plenty of charm and a relaxed vibe to his work, then my goodness, Ed is your man! We’re just absolutely besotted with his shots: from the beautiful, heart felt moments, to the fun and excitement he captures, it’s all so darn good.

Let’s find out a little more about the guy behind the lens and why you should be booking him…

Tell us a little about yourself…

I’m a wedding photographer based in a cute little village near Sherwood Forest in Nottingham. Originally from Berkshire, I moved up here 4 years ago. I live with my wife Clare. Clare is also in the wedding industry and runs her own business Rubyblue Design, specialising in making amazing letterpress stationary.

If you had a chance to go to any music festival, which one would it be?

Reading Festival. I used to live in Reading, and have been to the festival 10 times before. The first time I went was when I was 18. I know what you’re thinking, “why does he want to go again if he’s been 10 times!?” Well, I’ve got so many fond memories from those days and there’s nothing wrong with reminiscing with mates, a cold beer in one hand, and a cool band playing away in front of you!

What made you decide to start Ed Godden Photography?

I’ve been in the photography business now for 20 years (since I left college at 17) and 4 years ago I decided I was fed up of working for other people, I wanted to be the boss!

Tell us a little bit more about your photography…

My style of photography is relaxed, stylish, very creative, vibrant, and more than anything, FUN! I capture a true and honest story of a wedding day, exactly as it unfolds in front of me.

What are some of your favourite memories + experiences from previous couples you’ve worked with?

I’ve got so many great memories. But the best weddings are always the ones where a couple really ‘get me’ and understand my style of shooting. When I turn up to a wedding and the couple say to me “just do your thing… we trust you!” it’s the best feeling in the world. Letting me just get on with my thing and capturing those awesome moments you’ll cherish forever.

If our readers were to book you for their wedding, what can they expect?

A relaxed photographer, that wont take over your day by dragging you off for hours on end. A collection of beautiful images you’ll love forever. Years of knowledge in this industry. I shot my first wedding nearly 20 years ago, and am just as passionate and enthusiastic about photography now as I was then.

What are your previous couples saying about you?

“WOW WOW WOW! I’m sat at my desk in tears. They are amazing… I couldn’t have dreamt the photos to be any better! Me and Joe have looked through the photos literally every day since we got them, and I’m still seeing new things in them, and can’t believe how incredible they are. Thanks Ed, you’ve captured the day and the emotions so well.” – Laura & Joe Napoli

“It has taken me a while to find the words in how to thank you. We were a little blown away to be honest! I sobbed my little heart out whilst we relived it all. You captured the day so well, and I’m so pleased my brother recommended you to us.” – Louise & Kevin Munnings

“Hi Ed, Thank you for capturing our day in exactly the manner we wanted. We’ve been able to relive it all in great detail through your photos and look forward to sharing them with our friends and family. For someone that doesn’t like being photographed there really are some amazing photos in there! Thanks again for being a genuinely amazing dude, photographer and part of our day. Feels a bit sad to say goodbye, we may come back for an album yet, but hope our paths may cross again one day whatever!” – Becca & Matt Tottie

How do you know if Ed Godden Photography is right for your wedding?

Go with your gut instinct! Its what I tell every couple I meet. If you look at my images on my website and think “Yeah! That’s totally the kind of photos I want from our wedding” then PERFECT! Let’s chat. But if you look at my photos and you want something more safe, traditional, and staged… then I’m not the photographer for you.

What’s your best piece of advice for couples who are trying to choose their photographer?

Don’t be afraid to ask a lot of questions. Booking your photographer can be one of the most expensive parts of your wedding. And make sure you ask to see examples of a full wedding they’ve shot. Anyone can be lucky and get a single fantastic shot, but can they shoot a whole day in a professional manner? I have a big FAQ section on my website to help couples along the way. And I also have loads of full weddings up on my blog.

Finally, what’s your life quote?

If it looks good… snap it!

And, of course, you can find Ed over in our directory right now!

Peace + Love
