Dream-ers was founded with the deep-rooted belief that what one can perceive and believe, one will achieve.
Founded in 2012 by Yanique Barnes, an audacious dreamer with a passion to create high quality clothing but at budget friendly prices, American company Dream-ers create gorgeous handcrafted alternative wedding dresses all with a vintage and bohemian twist and all designed with the ‘real woman’ in mind.
If you are looking for a stunning dress but at an affordable price then Dream-ers could just be the ticket……….
With experience working for both low-end and high-end brands, Yanique never understood the disparity between quality and price. “I was also uncomfortable with how many brands left out certain body types out of the process. At 6 feet tall, I am all too familiar with this alienation.”
Not long after setting off on her journey, her niche was defined for her by clients that were looking for good quality dresses but at affordable prices……
“In August 2012, I resigned from my post as boutique manager for Chanel, to focus ALL my attention on making this line a success. I knew I wanted to create a line of clothing that was high-quality yet affordable. I began designing, and almost instantly non-traditional brides were buying the dresses, complimenting the quality, and they defined my niche. I am not a ‘traditional’ designer. I studied fashion-merchandising for 2 years, as this has been a life-long passion of mine, and got a degree in Finance, but my heart and soul have been fashion.
There is a widely known fact that if the label ‘wedding’ is added to anything, the price skyrockets, so we did the reverse. Our model is simple; all of our pieces are made-to-order, in our small workshop in Los Angeles. We sell directly to our clients, avoiding the wholesale route, and operating with below-average price mark-ups. As a result, we provide you quality, well-made pieces at a fraction of the price.”
WHAT WE DO:
All of our pieces are designed and created in our small studio. I work with a team of three other incredible women – that is, two seamstresses and a genius pattern maker. We LOVE what we do, and it shows in each piece we make. Clients are always amazed when they receive their piece; I think at our price point they expect a good piece, not a GREAT piece, and GREAT is what we strive for. I take pride in what I do, I care about the woman I am creating the piece for. I want to exceed her expectation. I am sort of an over-achiever and would be sad if I received a client message that the quality was sub-par.
In addition to quality made designs, and great fabrics, we encourage size customisations, so the garment arrives to the client fitting perfectly. This is all done FREE of charge. We know we can charge loads more, we know we could wholesale the line (we’ve been approached many times about this), we know we could get away with nickel-and-diming for each additional service we offer currently for free, but doing any of the above, would detract from why we started this line. We are here to solve a problem – overpriced bridal dresses. Our approach is different from most, while we hope to get rich from this one day:-), we rather take the slower approach, by offering value.
I am amazed by the amount of clients who take their time to write me letters and emails to say thank you for making their day so magical. I even had a client send me a hand-written thank you note and a gift card to go along with it. This is truly remarkable. At dream-ers we don’t just make great dresses at budget friendly prices, instead we are stitching dreams everyday.
We offer our pieces in standard shades – ivory, white, and black. However, we are able to hand-dye most of our pieces in over 100 additional shades.
Although Dream-ers is an American based company, they do ship to the UK and with all their dresses being under $500 – you can’t really go wrong!
