So January is finally over and we can all breathe a sigh of relief and take a rest from the detoxing!! Although I am starting a juicing diet at the end of this week. (I was not too well behaved in January)!

Today’s post is all about your wedding cake.. We love alternative cakes from the relaxed and simple to the eye-catching and colourful. Whatever style you choose be sure to let it make a statement! Don’t settle for 3 tiers of fondant icing, get creative by using gold foil, wild blooms and even some edible poetry!

COVERED IN GOLD

Love a bit of metallic to brighten up understated wedding decor. Simple and stylish this tone can be matched up with pastels and bright colours alike. Enriching and warming, perfect for summer soirees or wild winter parties.

PRETTY WILD

Real flowers on the cake have to be the ultimate bohemian statement. Wild and spirited, this style is perfect for a laid back wedding. Flowers are also a great way of linking colours throughout your wedding decor, table settings and centrepiece.

PATTERN, PROPS & PERSONALITY

Be bold and make a statement with an all singing and dancing cake!! Theme your cake with bunting, string, signs and messages. Pay homage to your wedding personality or life travels. Use the sponge as a blank canvas and embellish your inspirations, memories and style onto the cake.. A very personal and bespoke approach sure to be admired by your guests.

JEWELLED AND EMBELLISHED

This is one of our favourite styles, so simple and unique and a way to encorporate vintage jewels and heirlooms into your day. Pick your most eclectic necklace and layer onto your cake for the ultimate style statement.

When I plan my small, intimate and free spirited wedding, I will be setting the wedding party the task of making the wedding cake a day or two before the big day.. I think this is a great pre wedding/bonding activity and a much cheaper option than a professional baker.
