Hooe’s Yurt Open Day (Review)

14 May

Over the Easter weekend Hooe’s Yurts hosted a photo shoot and open day to celebrate the completion of their huge new 44ft yurt. It was a fantastic day supported by some excellent local wedding suppliers and enjoyed by a crowd of happy guests. Lots of cake was eaten and the yurt had the joyous christening!!

Hooe’s Yurts provide stunning tents for wedding receptions, hen weekends and wedding nights. They specialise in decorating the yurts with exotic textiles creating beautiful stylish venues. A brilliant alternative to a traditional marquee and perfect for adding the wow factor to your wedding day. Along with large venue tents, Hooe’s Yurts also supply luxury bedroom yurts which are perfect for creating your own wedding hotel and honeymoon bedroom. (How about this for glamping in style!!)

Their new 44ft yurt is a cathedral sized structure with the capacity for 120 guests to dine under its majestic high ceiling. This wonderful structure can be linked with other large yurts to create a yurt palace ideal for big weddings. For the open day Hooe’s Yurts added a little chill out snug with a wood burner to show how it is possible to create alcoves off larger yurts. These alcoves are great for entertaining children or for guests to relax in after some serious dancing!

Joining Hooe’s Yurts for the photo shoot and providing all the little touches for a boho country wedding were some lovely local suppliers. The vintage crockery was supplied by the The English Tea Party who specialize in original vintage crockery and accessories. Charlie Scribble who designs simple and unusual wedding stationary made some bespoke yurty place names to adorn the dinner table. The model and actress Daisy Dugmore looked stunning dressed in a vintage inspired gown by Kula Tsurdiu provided by The Ivory Secret in Crediton. She held a hand tied bouquet made by Joanna Game Flowers. Nat Haydon, who recently set up the new wedding planning and venue styling company Jolly Good Wedding, dressed the little chill out sung yurt with her exotic bollywood props and put together a charming vintage table plan ladder. The yurt exterior was decorated with striking bunting from Big Beautiful Bunting, wedding signs from Muddy Creek Signs and huge vintage fabric parasols from Sunbeam Jackie.  Finally and most importantly all the photos were taken by the talented and award winning Devon wedding photographer Rosie Parsons.

Hooe’s Yurts want to thank everyone who took part in the photo shoot and attended the open day. Roll on the summer. xx

Caught on Camera: Love at Festivals by Tracy Morter

18 Apr

Meet Tracy Morter… A fantabulous festival loving photographer that we met on the wonderful world of twitter! When we saw these shots we beamed with festival love and happiness and couldn’t wait to share them all with you.

Festivals can be incredibly romantic and have a tendency of bringing like minded souls together. What we love the most about any festival is their ability to bring out the best in people so it’s no surprise that many couples find or share love over a pint of cider and some awesome tunes!

Tracy has managed to capture this romance beautifully by photographing festival goers, young and old, in secret – and what a grand job she has done too!

Charlie (in the picture No. 5) had been away travelling for 6 months and this was the first time he’d seen his girlfriend since his return! This picture was taken at a wonderful little festival called Brownstock.
Tracy is a music and wedding photographer – what a combo for a Festival Bride!!! Shooting weddings, she is often drawn to taking pictures of couples at festivals.

She loves watching people and playing with the light. Not one to boss she prefers to observe,  catching those funny or moving moments…

INTERESTING FACT ABOUT TRACY - She is responsible (alongside her husband) for Rage Against the Machine getting to number 1 instead of X Factor’s winner Joe McElderry!! Love it!!!

So if you want a true music loving legend to photograph your festival wedding check out Tracy Morter www.tracymorter.com

Worth a follow on twitter to see what mischief she comes up with next!!!

Did any of you lovely readers meet at a festival………….don’t be shy………….fill us in on the gossip!?

White as a Feather – Festival Wedding Inspiration

8 Feb

I have a personal love for feathers… I know it sounds crazy but I believe if you find a feather an angel is very near by!! Someone told me this once and it just stuck… I know feathers will be part of my wedding theme.. they are so free spirited and pure and for me have a deeper meaning than just being pretty!!

So here is a mood board to give an idea of  how feathers can be used as part of your wedding day.. I particularly love the alternative stack of rings as well as the soft lights that could be delicately strung up in your tee pee. So inspire your inner hippy and use some of the white fluff on your special day…xx View all our feather inspiration on Pinterest

Kate and Matt’s Vintage Rustic Wedding – Part 1

6 Dec

When I came across this rustic chic wedding with a vintage twist, captured beautifully by US based photographer Kella MacPhee, I was uber excited about sharing it with you all.

Why? Because it is simply awesome!!

Kate and Matt ‘tied the knot’ at the beautiful Rosebank Winery in Newbank, Pennsylvania and the romantic rustic setting worked perfectly with their vintage theme.

I love Kate’s delicate lace dress, her amazing vintage Juliet cap veil, the chandeliers and light shade’s hanging from the trees, the flowers in wine bottles incorporated into their handmade aisle. There are so many inspirational elements to this laid back summer wedding that I’ve already scribbled down a few ideas for mine!!

Look out for the shots with the vintage rug – AMAZING!

Kella describes the day………..

“When I arrived at rosebank winery Kate was carrying her wedding gear in a vintage suitcase and Matt was under the hood of a truck…….from that moment I knew this was going be an authentic and fun day! This is a little bit of what happens when an interior designer and a welder marry.. ……industrial vintage magic!

The sweet as can be couple were married under a tree decorated with a chandelier and lanterns hanging from it’s branches, metallic painted wine bottles tied with twine to wood declared the aisle and a band complete with a tambourine and xylophone played the couple up and down the aisle!”

Just lovely!

Many thanks to Kella MacPhee for your awesome photos and to Kate and Matt for sharing their gorgeous day with us.

Part 2 will be on the blog tomorrow so don’t be a stranger…….

I’m off to find myself a rug – how amazing were those shots!?

Happy Tuesday Guys,

Big Love,

Festival Brides x

The LANE Editorial in NYC – Love Nostalgia…

30 Nov

I love THE LANE  - A beautiful wedding inspiration website and blog!! Create your own scrapbook of ideas, browse inspirational imagery/styling ideas and view real weddings. If only we lived in Australia!!!

Karissa (the founder) often creates beautiful shoots and videos to inspire her readers and this one is simply so stunning I just had to blog about it. Step back into a world filled with nostalgic memories, old world romance & ethereal beauty.  Embrace the feminine form in exaggerated silhouettes, luxurious textures and choose an elegant surrounding of faded grandeur!!

The location based in Lower Manhattan, New York is my idea of a perfect wedding venue… What a roof and the light is so pretty!! Anyone know a wedding venue like this in the UK???

Take a look at these beautiful images….
