Independent Love Song – Angus and Julia Stone: You’re The One That I Want

14 May

Today we have an absolute treat for your ears!

Those of you that follow this weekly feature will already know that Angus and Julia Stone are one of my favourite bands. They are a brother and sister combo from Australia who both have incredible voices and write incredible music.

This song however is a cover but still showcases their unique sound and gift for music. They have managed to take on a hugely popular song and completely make it their own and that takes some serious talent!

This version of You’re The One That I Want would make an awesome first dance love song and you’re about to find out why……………..

Enjoy you lovely people  xxx

Now I’ve got chills after listening to that!

Angus and Julia Stone have been featured before under Independent Love Song – click here for a listen.

Happy Monday!

Independent Love Song – John Lennon: Love

30 Apr

“Everything is clearer when you’re in love.” – John Lennon

John Lennon has one of those iconic voices and faces. It doesn’t matter which one you see/hear first, they are both instantly recognisable. He is a true 20th Century legend and his music and political views have influenced (and continue to influence) thousands of peoples lives.

Love is quite simply about love and everything that encompasses being in love! It’s a beautiful song that carries that distinctive John Lennon sound. I love his voice – it always holds so much feeling with a sense of innocence and vulnerability. It’s the sort of voice that draws you in and entices you to sit still and just listen………….

“Love is you……………you and me.”

A perfect love song for your first dance.

Enjoy x

Independent Love Song – The Moldy Peaches: Anyone Else But You

23 Apr

Today’s Independent Love Song is chosen by Hannah and Tim Pearson whose festival wedding we featured on Festival Brides today! It’s awesome so I think you should check it out………….part 1 and part 2.

I love this song!! It’s such a great choice for your first dance – its fun, alternative, sweet and happy.

“Our first dance was ‘Anyone Else But You’ by the Moldy Peaches. We saw the comedy potential, and thought we could incorporate that into our first dance, but also it’s simply a sweet song about being together and loving each other….”

Just lovely!

Enjoy party people xx

Independent Love Song – Queen: You’re My Best Friend

9 Apr

Happy bank holiday peeps!

Hope you’ve all had a good Easter – I’ve been in mini egg heaven over the last few days! They’re a bit too moreish!

Today’s Independent Love Song is chosen by Rachel and Jared whose amazing festival wedding was featured on Festival Brides last week. If you missed it then click here.

Over to Rachel and Jared……..

“We had a toss up between 3 songs, and decided 2 minutes before we actually had the dance! We chose Queen – You’re my best friend.

Jared and I always tell each other that we are best friends so it seemed perfect……………and I love Queen! The best part of the first dance was that Jared HATES dancing so after a minute, he signalled the best man up to dance with the bridesmaid, but the bridesmaid was no-where to be found….so in stepped my buddy Steve (Heron, who played the guitar as we walked down our makeshift aisle) to dance with Rory! Hilarious, everyone was cracking up. Then Jared danced with my Mum and that made me such a happy girl………”

Happy Easter guys! Enjoy x

Now where did I put those mini eggs…….

Independent Love Song – The Troggs: Wild Thing

2 Apr

Oh to step back in time to the 60′s where tunes like this were coming left, right and center!

I love this song with a passion – it’s cool, sexy, has an awesome rip that is instantly recognisable and whenever I hear the opening bar my head never fails to start bouncing!

It’s certainly not a traditional love song in the slightest and some people may argue that it doesn’t fit into the ‘love song’ category, but I think it would make a great first dance love song for this one line alone:

You make my heart sing………

Sums up love pretty well to me!

Happy Monday Guys!
