All-inclusive Wedding Yurt Packages by Wedding Yurts

Wedding Yurts has announced the launch of a special wedding package, designed to provide couples with an all-inclusive wedding day based on the yurt, the highly popular alternative venue to the “traditional” marquee, and set in a stunning countryside location in the Cotswolds called The Old Farmhouse – with more locations also planned.

Wedding Yurts founder Lizzie Jones said “We wanted to make it easier for couples to be able to choose the yurt option for their wedding day and provide not just the setting but an all-in-one package. It’s already proving to be incredibly popular!”. The package includes hire of the yurts and all facilities, catering, bar, floristry, styling, photographer and more. It is designed to make the costs of a yurt wedding clear and affordable with one point of contact to ease the planning stresses.

Lizzie has teamed up with Clare Lee of Lilyfee Floral Designs, a successful wedding florist and stylist, to offer the new package. “As soon as we met we realised we had something very complementary” said Clare “I had experience with styling weddings in yurts and teepees and wanted to do more. When I met Lizzie we conceived the package idea”.

Lizzie and Clare spotted the potential of Clare’s own grounds at The Old Farmhouse for the yurt package. It’s an 18th century farmhouse overlooking miles of unspoilt Cotswolds countryside where the yurts’ vista is to the west where the sun sets over the Malvern Hills. “The location is simply dreamy” said Lizzie “any bride and groom looking for a country-style wedding day will love its magic. Our Wedding Yurts have been designed with our eyes on the details, they are beautiful hand crafted structures made of sweet chestnut wood which looks very stylish against the cream canvas”. That is also where Clare comes in as the florist and stylist. “The yurts are a blank canvas that can be styled to suit the bride’s theme – from hippy and boho to classic English country!”

Wedding Yurts are launching the package with an Open Day at The Old Farmhouse on Sunday 6th May, with an English tea party. Couples are invited to come and see the yurts in their setting, enjoy tea and strawberries and chat to Lizzie and Clare and the team about the package offer.

Let There Be Light! Lighting inspiration for your big day

5 Oct

I love the picture above! I think it illustrates beautifully how getting crafty with lighting for your wedding can create a beautiful romantic ambience, a stunning picture and (depending on how you use them) add another simple but unique element to your wedding decor.

Now I’m not suggesting you do a ‘My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding’ and have lights sewn into your dress (although there is a tinsey winsey part of me that wants to try that dress on!) but you can certainly use them in a way that will add to the atmosphere of your day.

I love the picture below where they have fairy lights intertwined with ivy and jam jars to create a bit of rustic romance. Very simple and very effective. I love the bride’s flowers in her hair as well – very hippy chic!

Mixing paper pom pom lanterns with fairy lights can also have a lovely effect and you can match the lanterns to your colour scheme.

I love the image below where they have used different shades of green pom pom lanterns with a string of light bulbs. Again, it’s a really simple effect but it just adds so much atmosphere and looks beautiful against the back drop of the trees.

I’m definitely going to try and recreate this for our wedding – love the lanterns above the stage! Awesome!

Filling jam jars, glass bottles and vintage lanterns with lights and hanging them from different areas within your venue (trees, barn beams etc) can also have a great impact and best of all it’s cheap!!

I also LOVE the idea of visiting boot fairs and vintage fairs, collecting as many second hand lampshades as you can and then hanging these around your venue – very unique and very quirky!

Below are more images to bring you inspiration – light up light up!

I love the picture below of vintage lampshades. How awesome would it be to have a chill out area of a couple of old skool sofas, vintage lampshades and an antique coffee table!

Horse Loving !!!

4 Oct

As many of you know I (Kelly) have just moved house!

We have moved out of London to a beautiful farm in Kent…!!! It is truly beautiful and I feel like a new woman.

I had a horse when I was younger so it feels magical to be surrounded by them once again. Little does Nick know I’m plotting a plan to buy one – What there is a free stable!?

When I wake up each morning and make a tea I look out the window and see McCoy, a beautful irish cob – I instantly smile!

Here is some horse inspiration for your big day. We will definitely have one or two attending our ceremony.

Do you think the farmers might let us marry here?? That’s how much I love it…

Soft and delicate, this wedding had me smiling from start to finish. Everything about it is beautiful and it’s full of vintage chic wedding inspiration.

I love the character of the mismatched vintage chairs and the lights dangling above the tables. As soon as the sun goes down, those lights will look beautiful.

If only good old blighty had the guaranteed weather to have your wedding completely outside!

Tying the knot in a woodland setting has a wonderful romantic medieval feel to it that I actually find really appealing!! Lets face it – what girl didn’t watch Kevin Costner as Robin Hood and dream about being Maid Marion……….!? No? Just me then!

Wedding Inspiration: I’m in Glass Jar Heaven!

27 Sep

Fill them with flowers, hang them from trees, light up your venue by placing tea lights or candles inside – whatever you decide, getting creative with glass bottles and jars of all shapes, sizes and colours can create a big impact and the best part about it is it’s cheap as chips!

Whether your wedding is vintage; shabby chic; rustic; country tea party; summer fete; and/or festival, glass bottles and jars can be a simple yet effective addition to your wedding decor. If you love a bit of DIY, you can really create something quite personal and unique that fits in with the style of your wedding.

I’ve already roped in friends and family to start collecting their glass jars! Even my work colleagues are bringing them in! The best part about it is the more you collect, the more inspired you are by all the different colours, shapes and sizes.

For our wedding, I’m aiming to keep it simple by using them as centerpieces. The idea is to tie 3 different sized jars together with string or lace and fill each one with a small selection of country flowers – nothing too fancy!

To fit in with our festival theme, with our large mason jars we are going to make stencils of wellies, small tents, bunting and flags, attach them to the jars and then spray paint the glass white. We are then going to fill them all with tea lights and hang them from the trees around our venue.

However you decide to use them, you will be surprised at how atmospheric and versatile they can be.

Below is some inspiration on how other couples have used them for their weddings. I love the idea of putting old photos in jars, attaching white paper dollies to the inside to create a soft vintage feel and I especially LOVE the quirky thermos flasks! Brilliant!
