Afternoon Gorgeous Peeps. Hope you are all managing to enjoy the gorgeous sunshine today. It is scorchio in Kent and I am LOVING it! Summer is almost here and I have a feeling its going to be a good one this year.

To match the beautiful weather we have a colourful, carefree and relaxed festival inspired styled shoot to share with you all today, centered around Pixie, an über cool vintage mobile caravan bar from wedding suppliers Chic ‘n’ Cheerful. They wanted to show off the fun, quirky and unique side to their converted caravan bar by putting together a festival themed shoot full of colour, festival inspired wedding inspiration and a great supplier line up. As well as Pixie we especially love the gorgeous flowers by Distinctly Floral with those pink peonies and pastel pink roses. The oversized bouquet is just beautiful and is perfect for a bright and colourful festival wedding.

Dianne, the creative mind behind the shoot and the founder of Chic ‘n’ Cheerful talks us through the concept of the shoot and all the wonderful suppliers involved.

Enjoy.

Carefree, Fun and Festival In Style….

This shoot is all about carefree, fun and festival style.

I was careful not to be prescriptive when I invited the other professionals to join in on this shoot, but trusted their instinct and direction. I imagined myself back in the shoes of a bride and felt pretty sure I’d be determined to do my own thing, so that’s exactly what we all did, and it worked perfectly.

The basis of the shoot was to have some fun with our mobile bar “Pixie” – a vintage caravan we fully restored and converted ourselves. She really is unique and we get such amazing compliments whenever we go anywhere, so I wanted to set something up to show her off in all her quirky and unique glory.

Bars like this seem to be quite popular in Australia, and are slowly making their way over here, but don’t seem to be used to their potential, in terms of really being part of the look and feel of a wedding, so I hoped to create a setting that might help people imagine something a little different.

We’re all about colour and having fun….

As well as Pixie, we also cater for weddings, hire out some funky vintage items (just look at the incredible blankets and deck chair in the shoot), and make bespoke handmade paper flower walls. We’re all about colour, and having fun!  Our ethos is very much to use homemade, recycled, up-cycled, local and artisan produce wherever we can.

The exceptionally lovely Amanda, from Distinctly Floral, knows how important this is to me, so she created some truly stunning arrangements, using home grown flowers and foliage from her own cutting garden in Kent. The scent from the peonies was sublime! I really do encourage people to think a little further with their flower arrangements than the ceremony room and tables – for example, the addition of flowers to Pixie really do take it to the next level.

Without a hesitation, I invited Emma of Epic Love Story as our photographer, as her style is relaxed, natural, fun and most definitely colourful.  I knew Emma would have some unusual and interesting ideas, and she certainly didn’t disappoint – the images are incredible, full of movement and life.

Our stunning bride is Toni-Marie Langham.  When I first met Toni, who works with our friends at Joe’s Bows, she spent pretty much a whole weekend with a bird of prey on her arm, chatting to couples at a huge wedding fair, so I knew she’d love to run around in a field with us.  We dressed Toni in a beautifully simple dress from ASOS, who have their own bridal range, because I wanted the dress to be relaxed so our ‘bride’ felt carefree… we took that one step further with glitter pumps!

Terri, from Kent Bridal Hair, created a beautiful lose festival braid, and added some of the gorgeous flowers from the bouquet, which just looked incredible.  It gave a feeling that was less formal than a flower crown, but also meant that our bride was relaxed and carefree.  Makeup by Kings Hill Nails Beauty Lounge completed the look perfectly.

The final detail, was from Emily Ashborn, of Make.E, a talented designer and maker who likes to work in crochet.  I specifically asked her to create something with fibre, because it gives such a great and edgy look, and she delivered!  We had a crazy chevron and Pom Pom creation that looked incredible against the simplicity of the dress, and then a beautiful but subtle rose-pink necklace in contrast.
