I have been so looking forward to sharing today’s beautiful shoot with you. For one, it is captured at one of our gorgeous outdoor festival wedding venues in Kent at one of my favourite times of the year. Two, it is showcasing the work of some very talented suppliers who I am excited to be promoting on Festival Brides and, last but by no means least, it is full of bohemian style wedding inspiration that could be easily replicated at your wedding.
Captured beautifully by Lily and Willow Photography, look out for the gorgeous outdoor table setting styled by Anna of Snowdrops Weddings and Events, the incredible floral and berry crown by Wild Coco Floral Design and the gorgeous bespoke lace wedding gown by La Poésie.
A Bohemian Romance….
Words by Caroline of Lily and Willow Photography
The inspiration for the shoot was festival/boho and rustic from the outset. I wanted wood, handmade paper and beautiful florals. None of this would have been possible if I hadn’t got to know Lucy from Wild Coco Floral Design through a previous client. Despite living so close to central London I hadn’t as yet managed to find a florist who was really breaking the mold when it came to wedding florals and after seeing one of her flower crowns (which all local florists seemed a little scared of trying) and using a couple of other shoots, I knew we could do something really interesting together.
From there things snowballed really quickly and from the tiny idea between two of us, it swelled into a collaboration of 12 which included Chez Bec creating beautiful bespoke hairpieces and jewellery, Alexandra Wood’sl elegantly crafted Saville Row Suit and a gorgeous silk chiffon and french lace Coralie gown from La Poésie. We also reached out to Print for Love who create fabulous handmade letterpress stationary designs that are so wonderfully tactile that I knew they would look amazing captured on film.
The wedding bands were supplied by Oria. Our model had beautiful Asian skin tones and we felt that the gold Phoenix band was a much better fit for her. We complimented the bride with a gold band for the groom also supplied by Oria.
Our bride and groom were styled and preened to perfection by Jackie Mac and Olivia Leigh.
Anna at Snowdrops Weddings and Events did a fabulous job of bringing my ideas together with those of the other suppliers and created two really wonderful tablescapes on the day along with styling the swing that is situated outside the shelter. We decorated with a cheese tower and fruit, a traditional iced sponge and an arrangement of honey biscuits, marshmallows and madagascan chocolate to create American style s’mores to be enjoyed by the campfire.
This entire idea was born out of an image of a campfire that I saw months ago and from there the s’mores had to be included because it’s not something that we really ‘do’ in Britain. Our models cosied up by the fire as we lost the light and we enjoyed the last embers of it as the temperature dropped.
An Autumnal Fusion of Style and Colour….
Words by Anna of Snowdrops Weddings and Events
For the styling we choose an autumnal colour palette of dark reds, deep greens, ivory, blush and golds, to complement a rustic styling with woodland accents. We wanted to inspire brides and grooms who love the idea of getting married in a venue outside the city, immersed in nature, with a mix of festival, boho, rustic and woodland elements all fused together. When we came across Field Shelter we knew we had the perfect backdrop for our ideas to come alive.
The table setting is perfect for a woodland inspired wedding. A beautiful green garland of eucalyptus runs across the table, ending on both sides in a pool of deep green moss, candles and acorns. As a centrepiece, we used a wrought iron piece representing two deer heads. The rustic, organic letterpress stationery from Print for Love and the gold detailing on the dishes give a touch of colour . We especially love the place cards, tied with a simple ribbon to a rusty key, and the suspended bottles and flowers above the table setting, from which the menu falls to eye level.
Next to the main table we have a small side table with other rustic elements, as plains reinterpreted as flowers pots, a wrought iron acorn and a basket of rustic bread. Rustic elements are also found in the dessert table. When we saw that Field Shelter had an outdoor swing, we instantaneously knew we wanted to use the swing as one of the different levels on to which display a sweet and savoury buffet. We decided to have both a cake made of cheese and a small wedding cake, and all the ingredients to make s’more. Field shelter has a fire pit as well, and we managed to get some very romantic shots of our bride and groom next to the fire!
We love how the different details of this styling all work together so beautifully, and Lily and the Bluebelle captured some truly incredible images, which we hope will be of inspiration to Festival Brides.
Draping Curls and 1940’s Style….
Words by Jackie of Jackie Mac Hair Artist
Our wonderful bride had a ‘bob’ style hair cut, however; for this particular look we wanted more volume and length to create a more romantic, bohemian style. For this I created and added several bespoke hair extensions, curled; to add to the texture and movement. To style the newly lengthened hair, I loosely pinned sections up, draping curls, allowing some to tumble down. The final image created was a soft, dreamy look which suited our gorgeous bride perfectly.
For our lovely groom I wanted to create a textured but smooth, dapper look. He already had a short back and sides cut with gradual length on top but to create the look desired, I decided to wet and blow-dry the hair with some styling mousse to add extra volume; to finish I added some styling paste to hold this 1940’s style, complimenting his attire and most importantly, his gorgeous bride.
